GARNETT- The road to the end of the rainbow will have to temporarily come to a close. Rainbow Bridge is in the need of replacement and drivers traveling on 1750, also known as Fourth Street Road, will face an eight mile detour that will begin August 1. This bridge is the main link between Anderson and Linn Counties. The detour will subject drivers to gravel roads, but signs should help with navigation. Superintendent of the County’s Road Lester Welsh says the situation could be complicated if the project lasts into the fall, which could bring the threat of early winter storms. Welsh said there is no easy way to address the situation, but the long-term benefit will be worth the short-term inconvenience.
