OTTAWA — Ransom Memorial Hospital has been faced with federal mandates to computerize patients’ records. The hospital is ahead of many in converting patient records but says there’s more work to do, Larry Felix, hospital CEO, said. Hospital staff are close to completing the first phase, which will have most of the records digitized and on computers within 90 days, he said. However, it will take several years to completely digitize the records so that the hospital will be paperless, he said. In the meantime, the hospital is keeping paper records as a backup to the digital system, he said.
