OTTAWA — Ransom Memorial Hospital is completing the first phase of computerizing patients’ records. The nation’s hospitals have been ordered by the federal government to digitize records and eliminate paper. RMH is about 90 days away from completing the first phase, which would have most records and paperwork procedures converted to electronic form, said hospital CEO Larry Felix. The hospital is ahead of many in converting patient records but he said there are several years more of work before the records are completely converted to electronic form. The hospital will have to rely on paper backups in the meantime, he said.
