OTTAWA — Among the volunteers at ABC’s ”Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” work site – Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback. Brownback will volunteer at the construction southwest of Ottawa this evening at 5. The popular TV show is building a special “quiet” home for the Allen Hill family. Allen Hill served in the U.S. Army and received a brain injury from a road-side bomb in Iraq. It’s nearly impossible for him to live in the family’s present house in northern Ottawa, which is near a rock quarry, which has loud explosions, and near the Burlington Northern Santa Fe mainline. Volunteers of all skill levels are still needed this week. To sign up for a volunteer shift, visit the web site www. joinextreme.com/kansas.
