BIG LAKE, Mo. — The Missouri State Highway Patrol is looking for the body of a state trooper who was swept away by the flooding Missouri River Monday morning. Trooper Fred Guthrie, Jr., 46, Platte City, Mo., and his K-9 disappeared at Big Lake in northwest Missouri, said Col. Ronald Replogle, Missouri State Highway Patrol superintendent. The search was suspended Monday night and was resumed at daylight today. Guthrie joined the Missouri State Water Patrol 12 years ago and became a state trooper when the water patrol was merged with the highway patrol at the first of this year.
