GARNETT — A Chanute woman has been charged with murder in a drunk-driving wreck that killed a 13-year-old girl near Colony more than a year ago. The Anderson County Review reports that Connie McCormick, 46, was charged in Anderson County District Court with second-degree murder, driving while intoxicated and several other related charges. McCormick was driving south on U.S. 169 near Colony May 27, 2010, when her Ford Explorer dropped into a ditch and rolled end-over-end. Her passenger, Mary Jane Robertson, 13, was thrown from the rear hatch of the SUV and was killed. The Kansas Highway Patrol said McCormick was wearing a seatbelt but Robertson was not.
