PAOLA — The Kansas Supreme Court has upheld a Miami County District Court decision that requires a trail group to follow tougher county rules for maintaining the Flint Hills Nature Trail west of Osawatomie. The decision is a latest in long-running battle between the Kanza Rail-Trails Conservancy and Miami County. Trail officials toldl the Miami County Republic they plan an appeal. Miami County requires the group to post a $9,000 bond for cleanup and maintenance and fences, and to install trash cans at every place the trail crosses a county road.
