LYNDON — The jury trial of the man who is charged with capital murder in the slayings of four family members in Burlingame was scheduled to begin this morning in Osage County District Court in Lyndon. District Judge Philip Fromme, who will preside over the case, has scheduled a trial lasting about four weeks for James Kraig Kahler. Kahler is accused to killing his extranged wife, his two daughters and his wife’s grandmother during the Thanksgiving weekend of 2009 at a house in Burlingame. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that Osage County spent $60,000 upgrading the courtroom for Kahler’s trial and expects to spend at least another $200,000 on the trial.
