MATAMOROS, Mexico — The man wanted for robbing the Great Southern Bank in Ottawa was arrested by Mexican state police Monday at a bank in Matamoros, Mexico. Timothy Caskey was arrested without incident, said Donald Oswald, FBI special agent in charge of the Minneapolis FBI field office. Caskey’s estranged wife, Roberta Lynn Caskey, was also found, Oswald said. Mexican police described her as distraught but Oswald said he had no further information about her condition or health. Caskey has been accused of kidnapping her from Virginia, Minn., July 14 and taking her to Mexico. Ottawa police said a woman was in the older red pickup believed to have been used in the bank robbery July 15. U.S. Marshal Sharon Lubinski, of the Minnesota District, said she expects Caskey to be extradited to the United States very soon. He’ll first appear in federal court in San Antonio, Texas, she said. He’s accused of stealing a pickup truck near New Braunfels, Texas, and faces Minnesota state kidnapping charges and probatioin violations. FBI agents and U.S. marshals tracked Caskey to Mexico and they requested the help of Mexican police. Caskey’s wife will return to Minnesota soon, Lubinski said.
