ANDERSON COUNTY- Times are tough; spending cuts are in effect, but bills continue to rise. USD 365 in Anderson County can identify with exactly that as a decrease in state funding has made it more difficult to reach the recently approved school budget. The lack of state funds left the district out $50,000, an amount that can only be recovered by increasing the mill levy. The tax increase will cover the lost funds, and contribute to this year’s budget of $16.5 million. In an effort to offset any unnecessary costs, the district has shuffled staff to replace those who have retired, and continues to look for cost-saving measures, such as improving the energy efficiency via new lights in the schools.
