KANSAS CITY — Just minutes before Monday night’s midnight deadline, Bubba Starling agreed to a record-breaking deal offered by the Kansas City Royals. Starling, the athletic phenom and first-round draft choice from Edgerton, will receive a $7.5 million signing bonus to be distributed over the next three years. “Baseball America” calls Starling the No. 1 high school prospect and best high school athlete in the baseball draft. The Royals said that the club and Starling must still agree on a contract and Starling must take a physical. Kansas City will assign Starling to their rookie league team in Surprise, Ariz. The Royals said they also signed their third, fourth and fifth-round draft picks.
