TOPEKA – Gov. Sam Brownback has ordered flags in the state to be flown at half-staff on Thursday in honor of Spc. Spencer Duncan of Olathe. Duncan was a member of the Army Reserve helicopter crew that was shot down in Afghanistan Aug. 6 while flying Navy SEALs and Afghan commandos to a battle between Taliban soldiers and U.S. Army Rangers. He was 21. His funeral will be Thursday in Olathe. His family suggests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project. The web site is www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
