LYNDON — A woman who had a lesbian relationship with a woman who was murdered in Burlingame nearly two years ago was scheduled to testify today in Osage County District Court against James Kraig Kahler. Kahler is charged with killing his wife Karen, his two teenage daughters, Lauren and Emily; and Karen Kahler’s grandmother Dorothy Wight at Wight’s home during the Thanksgiving weekend of 2009. Kahler’s attorney said the relationship between Karen Kahler and Sunny Reese, sent Kahler over the edge.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that Osage County paramedic Wallace Brannen testified Tuesday that Wight told him that Kahler had shot her. Wight died three days after the shootings. The Capital-Journal also reported that Karen Kahler’s divorce attorney, Dan Pingelton, testified that the Kahlers’ divorce proceedings turned nasty and that Kraig Kahler became violent with his wife.
