OTTAWA–Although the 2012 budget stays rather flat, your property tax bill will go up slightly. During a public hearing at the Franklin County Annex, County Administrator Lisa Johnson said that County Commissioners and all Department heads have struggled to maintain a very lean budget. Despite that, some sources of revenue have been drying up. For example, interest income and retail sales tax receipts have dropped. With all this in mind, the average property tax bill on a $100,000 house will go up about $34.00 The mill levy will rise to a little over 59 mills. Johnson said the biggest increase in the budget is the cost of the employee benefit fund.
