LYNDON-Today marks the final day for the prosecution to make a case in the Kahler murder trial. Kahler is charged with killing his wife, her grandmother, and his two daughters in Burlingame in November of 2009. The Topeka Capital Journal reports that in yesterday’s hearings, former Kansas Bureau of Investigation Special Agent William Halversen’s video deposition stated that Kahler said “I messed up” during the interview that followed his arrest. Kahler’s younger brother, Kris, also testified yesterday and quoted James as saying “I might have to go out in a blaze of glory.” Kris says this statement was made 6-8 weeks before the slaying. The prosecution will call 5 more witnesses to the stand today, and the defense will begin making its case on Monday.
