EL DORADO — A southeast Kansas ranch that has served as a camp for thousands of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities will be sold. The Associated Press reports that the 147-acre Kansas Jaycees Cerebral Palsy Foundation ranch near El Dorado will be auctioned on Aug. 27. The ranch was opened in 1964 as a joint venture of the Kansas Jaycees and the Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation but the Jaycees ended their $100,000 per year donations a few years ago. Funding became harder to find and the ranch is being shut down. About 12,000 people camped at the ranch over the years.
