KANSAS CITY – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials say they’re going to start reducing the releases from the big reservoirs on the Missouri River in the Dakotas and Montana. Because much of the flooding on the lower Missouri River is occurring because the upper lakes are full and have had to release record amounts of water, Col. Tony Hofmann, commandant of the Kansas City Corps District, said that will help ease flooding near Kansas City. But it will take a least 10 days to two weeks before anyone sees any results or flooding to subside.
