BURLINGAME — The attorney for a man accused of murdering his family during the 2009 Thanksgiving weekend was scheduled to begin calling witnesses in his behalf today. The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that attorney Tom Haney was to call witnesses to describe a lesbian relationship between murder victim Karen Kahler and Sunny Reese. Haney contends the relationship sent James Kraig Kahler over the edge. Kahler is charged in Osage County with murdering his wife Karen Kahler, their two teenaged daughters, Emily and Lauren; and Karen Kahler’s grandmother Dorothy Wight at Wght’s house at Burlingame.
