OTTAWA — The Ottawa Police Department is stepping up patrols for impaired driving and other traffic violations. Because of a special state grant, Ottawa police and other law agencies are involved in a statewide drunk-driving campaign through the Labor Day weekend. Police Chief Dennis Butler said motorists can protect themselves as well by making sure they and their passengers use seat belts.
