TOPEKA – Gov. Sam Brownback has asked the U.S. Department of Agriculture to issue disaster declarations for 20 more counties because of drought, excessive heat and high winds. The new request includes Anderson, Linn and Coffey counties. This is Brownback’s forth drought request of the year. Brownback said a disaster declaration would make farmers in those counties eligible for emergency loans administered by USDA’s Farm Service Agency, as well as other aid approved in the 2008 Farm Bill.
