OSAGE CITY — The Osage City school board will host a public meeting tonight at 6 on three possible building projects. The meeting will be in the high school commons area. The meeting will look at proposals to rehabilitate the elementary school with modern wiring and heating-and-air-conditioning, better insulation and other improvements; upgrade a gymnasium into a federally-certified tornado shelter and moving and upgrading the football stadium, Supt. Bill Orth said. School officials have been talking to members of the community about the improvements and the board has taken the position that any improvements should be dictated by the public rather than the board, he said. Tonight’s meeting will allow the public to tell the board what they’re willing to finance, Orth said. Despite the poor economy, construction and interest costs are at all-time lows, he said. If the public supports all three projects, the board would have to hold a vote on a $7.5 million bond issue.
