WASHINGTON — The weekly U.S. Department of Agriculture’s crop condition numbers for soybeans and corn show the nation’s crops have slipped from last week. The USDA said condition of the crops are the worst in Kansas. At least one-quarter of the Kansas corn crop and 40 percent of the soybeans are listed as poor to very poor. Commodity markets saw spikes in fall prices because of the reports. Corn and soybeans are Franklin County’s most important fall crops.
