LOUISBURG — A 23-year-old Blue Springs, Mo., motorcyclist was killed south of Louisburg when he hit a U-Haul trailer being pulled by a truck Sunday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Derek Burchett was riding his bike north on U.S. 69 and came up at a high rate of speed behind a trailer pulled by Homer Ritter, 63, Mission; who was also going north. Burchett slammed into the back of the trailer and was thrown from his bike. Troopers said he wasn’t wearing a helmet. Ritter and a passenger wasn’t injured.
