LAWRENCE — The ex-wife of an assistant Kansas University athletic director caught in the KU ticket-scalping scandal is fighting an attempt by the U.S. attorney’s office to seize some of her assets. In a court filing Monday, Mary Jean Kirtland, Cary, N.C., denies her ex-husband Ben Kirtland fraudulently transfer assets in their divorce settlement. The U.S. attorney’s civil lawsuit seeks to recover some of the $2 million lost by the ticket scalping and says Ben Kirtland fraudulently transferred a house and other property worth $400,000 to her as part of the divorce. The transfers were a fair distribution of assets made in good faith, she said.
