OSAWATOMIE — Osawatomie city officials are reviewing city financial procedures in wake of two financial scandals this year. Osawatomie recreation director Ron Maring was arrested earlier this month on charges he misused a recreation commission credit card. Last month, police officer Jason Hudson was charged for misusing a city credit card. New city manager Don Cawby and Mayor Phil Dudley told the Osawatomie Journal that the arrests show that financial policies put in place two years ago that the policies are working. Cawby said he hopes the arrests will discourage others from misusing city funds.
