OTTAWA — A local group that seeks to help feed the world has scheduled its first fundraiser for the weekend of the Ol’ Marais River Run car show. An Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser breakfast will be 8-10 a.m. Sept. 17. Tickets are $6 per person and may be ordered by calling 242-2937 or 242-3791, or bought at the door. Numana volunteers will be the waiters, said Carolyn Elder, one of the organizers of the Numana “Soup For the Starving.” The group intends to raise $45,000 to produce 150,000 packaged meals, she said. The food-packing event will be next spring.
