TOPEKA – Gov. Sam Brownback has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on Friday in honor of Sgt. Alexander Bennett. Bennett was a member of the Army Reserve helicopter crew who was shot down Aug. 6 in Wardak province in Afghanistan. His helicopter was ferrying 30 American Navy SEAL and 8 Afghan army commandos and a civilian interpreter when the Taliban shot down the helicopter. Bennett was assigned to the Army Reserve helicopter unit at the New Century Aircenter. His body will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday.
