GARDNER — The Gardner and Olathe city pools have closed because of the increasing number of cryptosporidium cases in Johnson County. The cities joined other cities in the county that closed their pools early rather than risk spreading the waterborne parasite. The Johnson County Environment Eepartment had urged all pools to either close or “super-chlorinate” the pools. Olathe had chosen to super-chlorinate its pools at but decided to close as cases of the disease continued to mount.
