LAWRENCE — A motorcyclist died Wednesday night in a rush-hour accident on Iowa Street near University Drive in Lawrence. The Lawrence Journal-World reported that according to police, the motorcyclist veered into the lanes of oncoming traffic and was struck by a van and killed. Police didn’t identify the man. Iowa Street, which is one of Lawrence’s main streets, was shut down for five hours. The newspaper reported that it was the second fatality in a few days. A Michigan man was killed this week in a crash in Lawrence while he was fleeing law officers in a high-speed chase.
