OTTAWA — The Ottawa Volunteer Center is holding an essay contest for the 10th anniversary of 9/11 for Franklin County residents. Entries for the “I Will Never Forget 9/11” essay contest are due 5 p.m. Wednesday and must be e-mailed to Lisa Rivers at [email protected]. There are three categories – for high school students, college students and and adults. Essays should be 250 words or less and fit on one page. Entries must be e-mailed as a Word document. Each e-mailed entry must include the writer’s name, home address, and contact phone number. And if you want to do more than wield a keyboard, Rivers said she’s looking for volunteers to do community service projects to honor 9-11 victims and survivors. At 8:05 a.m., will be a tolling of the bell and flag planting at the Ottawa Fire station. A a remembrance service at OU Chapel will be 7 p.m. Sunday.
