OTTAWA — Ottawa BPW’s second annual “Cupcakes For Kids” at Ottawa Country Mart raised nearly $1,400 for Community in Schools this weekend. Last year, Cupcakes for Kids raised a little more than $800. Because of cuts in federal grants, Community in Schools’ Becky Nevergold said her group has to charge more for the Ottawa after-school programs this year. Monday from the fundraiser will be used for scholarships for those students who can’t otherwise afford to attend the after-school program, she said.
