GARNETT — Two Anderson County farmers hope they can make a difference for three struggling farmers in drought-stricken western Kansas. Greg Miller and Dan Highberger are collecting hay to send to the farmers who face dire straits the winter. Highberger and Miller told the Anderson County Review they will collect hay until Sept. 30, with a goal of sending at least three or four shipments of big round bales of hay. They figure if they get a bale or two each from area farmers, they can help the western Kansas farmers without drastically affecting local farmers’ income. They’re also asking for about $450 to pay for fuel and other transportation costs to truck the hay west.
