OSAWATOMIE — A man who has been with the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services three months has been named superintendent at Osawatomie State Hospital and Rainbow Mental Health facility in Kansas City. Steven Ashcraft has been SRS’s director of hospitals coordination since June. SRS secretary Rob Siedlecki, who announced the hiring this morning, said Ashcraft has more than 30 years of management experience in various hospitals, ranging from a 750-bed teaching hospital, to small rural hospitals and HMOs. He is a Kansas licensed adult care (nursing) home administrator, and is certified in assisted living. Siedlecki also announced the appointment of Dr. Christopher Burke as superintendent of Larned State Hospital. He has been at Larned more than five years.
