GARNETT — Anderson County has been chosen as one of 10 rural communities in Kansas to take part in a pilot program to help support growth-oriented rural entrepreneurs. The Kansas Entrepreneurial Communities Initiative looks at successful practices from within Kansas and across the world to create a cutting-edge model of encouraging rural entrepreneurs, said Dennis Arnold, Anderson County economic development director. The program will help the county gauge business needs and look at new business possibilities and startups, he said. A volunteer committee will be formed to help supervise the year-long program and develop a strategy for creating new businesses, he said.
