FONTANA — Angry Fontana residents turned out recently to defend their post office. The Miami County Republic reported U.S. Postal Service official Mike Behrend explained the Postal Service’s reasons why Fontana’s post office is targeted for possible closure and tried to answer several questions about the issues. He told them that Fontana failed to meet U.S. Postal Service guidelines for walk-in revenue. Fontana residents cast doubt on the study and objected to the closing. They said they don’t want to have to go to Osawatomie or Paola for postal services.
