TOPEKA — A new group is calling for a rally for all Kansans on Friday morning on the south steps of the State Capitol in Topeka. Kansans United in Voice and Spirit is hosting the rally to protest cuts to state services Friday morning at 10. The groups says it’s urging concerned citizens of Kansas to unite to support and protect valuable state services and programs and to promote government by and for all Kansans. The group is offering rides to those wanting to attend. E-mail [email protected]. Participants may park on the street near the capitol or in underground parking. The underground parking lot can be entered on 8th Street on the north side of the capitol (corner of 8th and Harrison). There is two hours of free parking at this location. For those parking on the streets, Jackson Street, on the east side of the capitol, is recommended. Jackson street is the one-way street heading north. You may park for up to one hour at a time on Jackson between 9th Street and 10th Avenue; M eters cost $1 per hour. You may also park for up to 10 hours at a time on jackson between 8th and 9th streets; meters are 50 cents per hour. There is free four-hour visitor parking at the state justice center which is directly south of the capitol.
