WICHITA — The wall panels will go tumbling down and Wichita State University’s Ulrich Museum is planning a party on Sept. 27. The museum plans a conservation project to save and restore the giant mosaic by Spanish artist Juan Miro that forms the façade of the museum. The mosaic, which in English is called “Bird People,” is 80 panels forming a 26-by-52 feet mosaic, and it’s regarded as one of the world’s most significant mosaics. Festivities begin at noon with music and refreshments served, followed by an official campaign kick-off and removal of the panels. The event is free and open to the public.
