TOPEKA — A former Topeka convenience store manager has been sentenced to a little more than a year in federal prison for embezzling more than $400,000 from her employer. U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said Wednesday that Amie Elisabeth Ard, 30, Topeka pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud. Ard stole money from Wood Oil Company’s convenience store on the Kansas Turnpike near Topeka while she was the store manager. She falsified company records to cover up the thefts, Grissom said. She used $15,000 to buy a Chevrolet Avalanche and $20,000 to buy a Corvette.
