TOPEKA – The release of the August labor reports states that Franklin County’s unemployment rate has risen .2 percent from 8.9 % in July to 9.1% in August. At this time last year, Franklin County stood at an even 9 %. The Kansas City area, which includes counties Franklin, Johnson, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami, and Wyandotte, has a standing of 7 percent,which is point 2 percent lower than July and last year.
