OTTAWA- Corn harvest is not only well underway, it’s nearly finished. The summer’s extreme temperatures with little rainfall have made for a rather depressing harvest. Frontier Extension District Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent Darren Hibdon reports that harvest is averaging 20-40 bushels to the acre, which is 100 bushels down from last year. With the low yields, corn harvest is wrapping up with 85% complete. Bean harvest will begin within the next week.
