RANTOUL — A 100-year-old house in the 2000 block of Ohio Road near Mount Hope Church west of Rantoule was destroyed by a fire last Sunday night. Friends said Janice Pack, the house’s owner, was visiting friends in Topeka when the fire occurred. Her pet dog and all of her possessions, including her saddle collection, were lost in the fire. Volunteer firefighters were still working the fire early this morning. Friends said her church gave her a check for clothing and food and she’s looking for a place to rent. The rain prevented the fire from spreading to a garage and horse barns on her property. There wasn’t an immediate estimate of damage or the cause of the fire.
