PAOLA- For ten years now, the last Monday in September has been designated as “Family Day.” “Family Day” is designed to encourage families to eat a meal together. Miami County Family and Consumer sciences Agent Diane Burnett says that the National Center of Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University has found that the more often kids eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink and use drugs. Burnett says that The location and the time of day doesn’t make a difference, just as long as you are sharing a meal with your loved ones.
“Make an effort, you know, to eat dinner with your children or grandchildren,” Burnett said. ”Get together to show that the children or the young people in your life are a priority”
