OLATHE — A former Shawnee Mission West High School teacher and cheerleading coach has been charged in Johnson County District Court with three counts of unlawful sexual relations. Michelle Preston, 27, Lenexa, has been accused of having sexual relationships with three different students. Shortly after she was suspended and authorities announced an investigation of allegations of the sex crimes, Preston was injured when her vehicle ran off 247th Street in Miami County and over a cliff in March. She was flown by helicopter to the University of Kansas Hospital. The Shawnee Mission board of education voted not to renew her contract in May. Preston will appear in court on Oct. 4.
