HOMEWOOD — A 59-year-old Emporia man complained of what appeared to be minor injuries as a result of a two-vehicle crash on I-35 near Homewood Tuesday morning. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office said Lauren Martel, 22, Overland Park; was driving north on I-35 when she hit the rear of a truck driven by Vernon Johnson of Emporia. Sheriff’s officers said he was working for Bryant & Bryant Construction at the time of the accident. He complained of neck pain but refused to be transported by an ambulance, officers said.
