KINCAID — The Anderson County town of Kincaid, population 175, will swell to about 4,000 people for the 103rd annual Kincaid Free Fair this week. The Anderson County Review reported that the fair continues its long-time traditions of having a carnival, fair queen competition and old-fashioned races. It’s called the Free Fair but fair board president Liz Drennan said children and high school bands receive cash prizes for taking part in the parade and fair. She said it works because the parade is noted for the number of kids and bands taking part each year. Among the activities: tonight — bean feed and homemade ice cream, 5; child’s cash grab, 6; pedal tractor pull, 630; Holy Cows concert, 7:30. Friday — Senior turtle race, 4; PUSH band, 5:30; bingo 7:30. Saturday — Antique farm equipment and variety of booths, all day; parade, 1:30; book-signing by “Lottie Albright” mystery series novelist and historian Charlotte Hinger, 2-4; garden tractor pull, 3:30, “Fathers Arms” puppet show, 5:30; draft horse pull, 5:30; “Mysteries and Wonders” show, 7.
