OTTAWA — A Paola dealership offered the lowest bid to sell six dodge chargers to the Franklin County Sheriff’s office. Sheriff Jeff Curry opened three bids for new patrol cars at the county commission meeting Wednesday. New Century Dodge Chrysler Jeep bid slightly more than $140,000 for the six cars. South Star Chrysler of Ottawa had the highest bid at a little more than $192,000. Because the car purchase was rebid, Curry sought bids for car buys for this year and next in hopes of saving some money. Curry asked eight Kansas dealerships in the region to offer bids. Because Ford is discontinuing Crown Victorias, Curry will buy different models for patrol cars. He had trouble getting Chevy Caprices on the first bid, so he requested Chargers. Commissioners tabled the bids for one week to give Curry a chance to examine the bids.
