OTTAWA — Franklin County Sheriff’s detective Allen Campbell is retiring after 30 years with the Ottawa Police Department and sheriff’s office. Television detectives wrap up complicated cases in under 60 minutes but he said a real-life detective has to be more patient because it may be nine months to a year before the detective gets DNA and fingerprint evidence from the lab. His retirement reception will be Friday afternoon at 3:30 at the county annex. Another long-time law man, Ottawa police detective Rick Geist is retiring this week after 30 years of service. Campbell will discuss life as a lawman in Franklin County for this Sunday morning’s Community Perspective at 8:04.
