OSAWATOMIE — Osawatomie residents move to a new city-wide recycling system this week. L&K Services started picking up blue recycling containers. They’ll pick up the recycling containers on Monday and Tuesday and regular trash containers Thursday and Friday. There will be a new limit on trash. Each household will be limited to three 30-gallon bags or three containers or one 96-gallon tote. Any additional 30-gallon bags will be picked up if they have a pre-paid sticker on them. Stickers can be bought at the Osawatomie City Hall or Moon’s Hometown Market at 10 stickers for $15. There are no limits on recycling. The company said it will try to help the elderly or handicapped residents who cannot get their recycling totes to the curb. Those residents should call L&K Services for help. Bulky item pickup days will remain unchanged and tire pickup will still be offered once a year with a limit of six per household. A complete list of what is recyclable and a description about the new program can be found on the L&K Web site www.ktrashservices.com.
