OTTAWA — Marguerite Gibson has donated $1 million to a proposed YMCA and community center in Ottawa. Community involvement has been important to Gibson and she hopes this will push donations for the Y, said Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce president Tom Weigand, a member of the group raising money for the new Y. The project, which is close to fruition, will cost about $8.7 million and Ottawa University has donated a site, he said. The building will 43,000 square feet with indoor swimming pool, weight rooms and a health center. The center would be named for her but Weigand said she’s willing to share top billing if someone else donates $1 million or more.
