GARNETT – Although there’s a free hamburger and hot dog feed tonight at the fire station, the Garnett 150 celebration gets in full swing Saturday. The Anderson County High School homecoming is also this weekend and includes a parade this afternoon at 2 downtown. It’s the first of two parades in two days. The Garnett 150 parade will be Saturday afternoon at 1. The 150th anniversary event includes a day-long variety of games, music, entertainment and food in the downtown square Saturday. Events begin with the community breakfast at the Garnett VFW post. Tickets for the all-you-can-eat breakfast are $6. The Garnett Chamber Players Community Theatre will give a free performance of Garnett native Edgar Lee Masters’ “Spoon River Anthology” at Thelma Moore Community Playhouse at 4. The evening will wind up with a fireworks display.
